About Our COVID-19 Antibody Test

Physicians Urgent Care now offers IgG antibody testing for our patients! This serology blood test identifies the presence of antibodies that indicate that a person had an immune response to COVID-19 (also known as coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2). A positive result to this antibody (IgG) test indicates that you may have had previous infection and/or exposure to COVID-19 and your body has developed antibodies

Antibodies may be detected in the blood samples of infected patients 7–10 days after infection. Some people infected with COVID-19 will never exhibit symptoms but will have a detectable antibody response. While there is belief that the presence of antibodies may provide immunity to future infections, there is not yet enough data to state this conclusively.

This is an antibody test used to detect the presence of antibodies indicating a immune system response to a past COVID-19 infection, not to diagnose active infections. If you believe you may have an active infection or if you are currently feeling sick, please schedule a visit with one of our providers. We do have COVID-19 diagnostic testing available on-site.

We offer telemedicine visits for COVID-19 screenings, including antibodies testing. The provider will schedule a drive-up COVID-19 Nasal Swab test if neccessary, so you don’t even have to come inside! Click button to book appointment.

Why should I get an Antibody Test?

High-quality antibody tests are necessary to assess a population’s exposure to the virus. Besides peace of mind, most patients are using antibody tests to decide if they can safely return to work or be screened for labor and delivery, elective surgery, reserve to active duty or start a new job.

Commonly Asked Questions:

Am I a good candidate for testing?
All interested persons who believe to have been exposed to COVID-19 or have had symptoms in the past are appropriate candidates for obtaining this test. Patients must be asymptomatic (free of symptoms) for at least seven days prior to testing.

Antibody testing is not intended for use in individuals with an active COVID-19 infection, including individuals with symptoms.

Is it FDA approved?

This test is authorized to be performed and marketed by the FDA. Physicians Urgent Care Antibody Tests exceed percentage requirements put in place by the FDA, making them 1 out of 13 antibody tests on the market that meet FDA standards.

The FDA requires antibody tests to meet standards for accuracy. Tests will need to be found 90% “sensitive,” or able to detect coronavirus antibodies, and 95% “specific,” or able to avoid false positive results.

Learn more here.

How accurate is the test?

The test we use is 92% sensitive and 97% specific. You can learn more on our website by clicking the learn more button above. To learn more about the specific test we use: http://www.diazyme.com/dz-lite-sars-cov-2.

Can I order testing in bulk for my workplace?

Yes. Email info@pucclinic.com or call one of our clinics to learn more.

What are the testing options?

Nasal Swab that can determine if you are positive or negative for the virus.  (3-5 day turnaround)

Antibody testing can determine if you have been previously infected (exposed) to the virus and developed IgG antibodies. (2-3 day turnaround)

Will this be covered by my insurance?

To receive the COVID-19 nasal swab or the COVID-19 antibody blood test, you will have to see a provider who will determine if you are a good candidate for testing. This visit can be done at our Brentwood or Franklin clinic OR you can schedule a telemedicine visit online.

The price of the urgent care or telemedicine visit depends on your insurance. We accept most major insurance providers, most have co-pays ranging from $0-100. We recommend reaching out to your insurance to determine actual amount. If you do not have insurance, we have affordable self-pay pricing starting at $127. Learn more about insurance and pricing here.

Our lab tests are sent to Pathgroup for results. Pathgroup bills separately, but has stated that there is no charge for the COVID-19 nasal swab or Antibody blood test if you have insurance.
